Kuro Technology's highly-stylized action RPG Punishing: Gray Raven begins PC beta testing on March 1-9. The game, which first debuted on iOS and Android in 2021, follows a squad of special forces as they fight back against the robots who decimated humanity's surface.
Like NieR: Automata, the game puts players in control of a squad of "constructs" as they battle against different enemy types in real-time. Each construct can be equipped with up to six "memories" that provide a range of buffs during combat. These vary from flat damage boosts of various elements to triggering Bullet Time on the next three-orb combo, as well as calling down lightning strikes and allowing players to evade enemy attacks using a meter that recharges over time.
As the story progresses, it becomes clear that this isn't a world that is forgiving of mistakes or unlucky turns. While most characters in the squad have terrible pasts, their determination and camaraderie keep them moving forward with the unyielding hope that the Punishing Virus can be defeated.
The omnivorous common raven is a master forager, able to survive on a wide variety of foods, including carrion, insects, cereal grains, berries, fruit, small mammals, birds, nests, and even human food waste. They are known to hunt rock doves in flight, steal chicks from other ravens' nests, and investigate gun shots during hunting season (though they tend to ignore noises that aren't tied to food). Ravens can also imitate the call of wolves and other predatory birds to lure prey towards them.
